Abortion stands as the most crucial political issue today in the US. With the Supreme Court overturning the right to abortion in 2022, it has become the focal point of the current presidential race.
Both Joe Biden and Donald Trump, despite their personal beliefs, are intertwined with this issue.
Biden, though personally against abortion due to his Catholic beliefs, supports a woman’s right to choose. As the incumbent president, he pushes for federal laws safeguarding reproductive freedom.
Trump, on the other hand, has flip-flopped on his stance, initially declaring himself pro-choice but then aligning with anti-abortion sentiments once in power.
The candidates’ positions on abortion could sway the election outcome. Biden’s victory would solidify abortion rights as a key concern for voters, while Trump’s reelection would pose unprecedented questions about the future of reproductive rights.
Amid this uncertainty, many American women are preparing for the worst and taking proactive measures, such as stockpiling abortion pills like Mifepristone.
Accessing these pills can be challenging and expensive, leading some to resort to unconventional methods, including sourcing them from Mexico.
The people who support the right to have an abortion are finding it harder to protect this right. They have to fight in each state to keep the rules fair.
Even with all these difficulties, those who believe in the right to choose whether to have an abortion or not are not giving up. They know how important it is for women to have control over their own bodies and their futures.
