Jio Hotstar’s 4K Blunder: OTT Sci-Fi Fans Fuming

When fans were excited to watch Alien Earth streaming in 4K on JioHotstar, the experience turned out to be less enjoyable than expected, putting the platform in the spotlight for criticism once again. Many viewers across India took to social media platform X to express frustration over a constant 4K tag appearing in the corner of the screen during playback.

This repeated display is proving more distracting than useful, as audiences already know the film is in 4K. The sci-fi horror series, created by Noah Hawley, is visually rich and packed with intricate details, making the promise of a 4K release a huge draw. Instead of drawing viewers into the futuristic world of 2120, the glaring tag is taking them out of the experience.

One user on X said it felt ironic to wait for the 4K release to enjoy the best visuals, only to have the constant tag ruin the immersion. Streaming platforms have faced similar complaints before, including audio or framing problems, but this time the timing is worse as Alien Earth demands complete attention. As of now, JioHotstar has not addressed the issue, leaving viewers hoping for a quick fix.
