SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali franchise remains one of the most celebrated achievements in Indian cinema. To mark its 10th anniversary, the makers planned a grand theatrical release titled Baahubali: The Epic on October 31, aiming to recreate the magic on the big screen.
Baahubali: The Epic presented both parts of the franchise together in a single cut. The combined version had a runtime of three hours and forty five minutes, offering audiences a continuous viewing experience of the epic saga.
The makers reportedly expected box office collections close to 100 crore. However, the film managed to collect around 35 crores, falling short of expectations despite the franchise’s massive popularity and legacy.
With most audiences already familiar with both films, theatrical interest remained limited. Attention has now shifted to its digital release, scheduled for December 25 on Netflix, which could attract viewers during the festive period.
It remains uncertain how audiences will respond on OTT platforms. The release offers no new additions beyond Prabhas’ iconic presence and Rajamouli’s grand storytelling, following a muted box office performance.
