What to Watch on OTT

Vetrimaaran’s Bold Film OTT: Second Chance Possible?

The Tamil film Bad Girl, directed by Varsha Bharath and produced by Vetrimaaran, is set for its OTT premiere on JioHotstar from November 4. The film was released in theatres on September 5 and received positive reviews from both audiences and critics.

Despite good reviews, Bad Girl struggled at the box office as many moviegoers preferred to watch Sivakarthikeyan’s Madharaasi, which hit theatres on the same day. As a result, Bad Girl went largely unnoticed during its theatrical run.

Now, after an average run in theatres, the film is ready to stream on JioHotstar in five languages Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.

Industry trackers believe the film’s OTT release was delayed because no platform initially acquired its rights. However, JioHotstar has now officially secured them, giving the film a fresh opportunity to reach a wider audience.

Though Bad Girl gained buzz before its release due to several controversies, its cast of debutant leads may have contributed to its limited theatrical attention.

Many trade experts predict the film could perform well on OTT, considering the earlier positive reviews. With a wider audience on streaming, the film may also reignite discussions and controversies post-release.

It now remains to be seen whether Bad Girl finds success on OTT and connects better with viewers this time.
