The Tamil web series Exam, starring Dushara Vijayan and Aditi Balan, began streaming on Amazon Prime on May 15. Directed by A Sarkunam, the show carried strong expectations due to its cast and the director’s reputation.
A Sarkunam is a National Award winning filmmaker, and both lead actors are known for solid performances. Many viewers expected Exam to succeed in the Tamil OTT space, especially after the positive reception of Kuttram Purindhavan.
However, the series has received disappointing feedback from many viewers on social media. Several users have expressed concern over the overall execution. The initial buzz has not translated into strong audience approval.
Viewers noted that the seven episode series feels slow in parts. Despite focusing on scams in government exams, the screenplay is seen as weak. Many believe the promising concept was not fully utilised.
Some reactions also highlight a broader concern about Tamil OTT content. There is a growing opinion that directors are not fully using the platform’s potential. Audiences are expecting more engaging and well executed stories.
At the same time, a section of viewers has shared average responses. They feel Exam offers a fresh concept compared to recent series. Unlike common themes like crime or abuse, this story focuses on exam scams.
With mixed to negative reviews, the future performance of Exam remains uncertain. It is yet to be seen whether the series will gain steady viewership. The coming days will decide its impact on the platform.
