In a world oversaturated with thrillers and superhero flicks, the American comedy-drama series The Bear feels like a breath of fresh air. This series revolving around the topic of the food industry and a kitchen has grabbed the attention of the viewers from day 1, and the upcoming season 3 has garnered higher expectations.
The way “The Bear” uses its’ visual storytelling components to create a sense of tension on-screen and prolong it as the conflict of characters continues, is astounding. Throughout the show, there are plenty of examples to showcase how “The Bear” drags the audience into its world and makes them feel invested in the characters and their individual struggles. Most of it is done through planned chaos using multiple elements, some obvious like the BGM and dialogue, and some not, like the fast-paced cuts, and close-ups.
