Hotstar Brings Class of ’09: An Ambitious Dystopian Crime Drama

What Hulu brought to the globe, Hotstar is bringing to the nation, Class of ’09, one of the most promising thrillers of the year. Now, they don’t just have a star staggered cast but a great storyline that will surely captivate you.

The FX limited series takes us to a near dystopian future, kinda Black Mirror-ish, where law enforcement relies on technology, closing the gap between a man and a machine.

The show also jumps between three timelines, the Past (2009), the Present (2023), and the Dystopian future of 2034. Now, class of ’09 is able to keep a clear distinction between three separate times, not making it a hotchpotch mess.

The series will take you on a ride of justice, humanity, ethics, and choices, and maybe bamboozle you with the depth. This FBI drama also goes beyond the regular ones as the agents will not only deal with professional challenges but also with the personal ones.

Now the strongest point of the show becomes the flaw of it as it’s too well constructed. Most of the time, the show won’t even let you get adjusted to the timeline, so you will lack the attachment. The pacing might feel a bit slow sometimes as well and it might make you a world of darkness and depression, to some extent.

The show is well-made and thought-provoking, obviously with some flaws. Tom Rob Smith created something special and if you are in search of an FBI show which is more than an FBI show, this should be the exact drama you are looking for. And if you don’t wanna get disturbed mentally, it’s better to skip it.
