Amazon Prime Video’s horror crime drama, Inspector Rishi, premiered on the OTT platform on 29 March and has received a fairly positive response from the audience and critics. It is still too early to predict how will it turn out for the show in terms of popularity but given the way it is going, it is expected to better than many.
The Tamil crime drama stars Naveen Chandra, Sunaina Yella, Kanna Ravi, Kumaravel, Meesha Ghoshal, Semmalar Annam, Gajaraj and others.
J.S. Nandhini is the creator of the show who built a story that follows the traditional concept of superstition and spirit behind anything bad. In the forest of Thaenkaadu, people are getting murdered in mysterious ways which has created fear among the people living there. They think it is a work of the spirit ‘vanaratchi’.
Inspector Rishi (Naveen Chandra) has been assigned the case to solve the mystery where nothing seems normal and everything is a work of the devil.
The reason for Inspector Rishi’s initial success is its acting and the choice to not delve into the world of too many climaxes. It has become a norm for directors to build too many sub plots with layers after layers that sometimes just don’t work.
Inspector Rishi gives a taste of the long lost straight forward mystery that doesn’t get lost in the intricacies of the web of climaxes it has woven.
Inspector Rishi is streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
