Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay’s son Jason Sanjay’s debut directorial film Sigma starring Sundeep Kishan and Faria Abdullah in the lead roles, was released in theatres on October 2nd and has received negative reviews from audiences and critics.
Many viewers, after watching Sigma in theatres, have claimed it to be the worst film in Kollywood this year and severely criticized Jason for wasting a potential opportunity.
Also, because of the negative word of mouth, Sigma ended up as a terrible failure and a huge loss for the production house.
However, following its disastrous theatrical run, Sigma started streaming on the Netflix OTT platform with a 4 week OTT window from October 30th in 5 languages such as Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.
Since most films that end up as theatrical failures receive a positive response from OTT audiences, some believed that Sigma might receive a positive response from OTT viewers and bring some relief to Jason Sanjay.
Unfortunately, OTT audiences are also sharing terrible reviews for the film. They suggest that other than Sundeep Kishan’s decent acting performance, Sigma doesn’t have a single positive aspect, noting that the story and screenplay were outdated.
Furthermore, they feel that Jason Sanjay should have cracked a better script for his first film and claimed that he still needs to learn many things about filmmaking. Also, they criticize him, saying that he should properly learn first and then make a film, instead of wasting the producer’s money.
Ultimately, with the terrible reviews from OTT audiences, it remains to be seen how Sigma is going to perform on the platform and whether it acquires a decent number of views in the following days.
