Jio Cinema acquires ‘The Office’, Challenges Prime Video

A couple of weeks ago NBCUniversal and JioCinema announced the deal of a lifetime, a deal that can change the OTT scenario once and for all. And now they executed it, and now JioCinema is bringing Peacock to India. Now this is a clear statement from JioCinema, they are not just here to exist, they are here to rule.

JioCinema is successfully bringing a wide range of libraries together. Recently they included HBO, along with Paramount Plus originals and Showtime, they are now contestants for the crown.

As JioCinema becomes the new ‘Mr. Worldwide’, it became the new destination to binge-watch something for the fans. A wide range of shows, from ‘Suits’ to ‘The Office’ and even ‘Mr. Robot’ to cinema like M3GAN and Cocaine Bear is now available on the platform.

Now the gain of one is a loss of another, and that is Prime Video. JioCinema now brings a threat to the entertainment of Amazon. Though Prime has been very consistent about their original series, the international shows were their valuable assets as well. Though most of them are streaming on Prime Video, their longevity is questionable.

Now it is a major step for them, and the number of users will definitely increase. With this deal, they can now also focus on some originals which will get a commendable reach for sure.
