John Abraham’s latest action thriller, Tehran, has been released on ZEE5 and received positive early reviews. The film, based on the 2012 attacks on Israeli diplomats, presents a tense geopolitical thriller and showcases John Abraham in a fresh action-packed avatar.
The film was originally intended for a theatrical release, and John Abraham expressed his preference before the ZEE5 premiere. Fans on social media have echoed this view, stating the cinematic quality and scale of Tehran warranted a big-screen experience rather than an OTT release.
Viewers have praised the performances of John Abraham and Manushi Chillar, highlighting the chemistry and intensity that drives the story. The film is being described as an ideal Independence Day entertainer, combining suspense, action, and a compelling real-life inspired narrative.
Comparisons with theatrical releases like War 2 and Coolie have emerged, with audiences recommending Tehran as a must-watch instead. Many feel the OTT thriller provides more engaging content and genuine entertainment, making it a clear winner in this year’s Independence Day releases.
Though the film was delayed for several years, the wait has been worthwhile. Reviews emphasize that Tehran stands out for its storytelling, thrilling action sequences, and realistic portrayal of events, making it one of the most entertaining OTT films of 2025.
