Netflix has been expanding its presence in South India by announcing several original projects in Tamil and Telugu. The platform earlier revealed plans for six regional originals.
The first project under this plan was the serial killer thriller Stephen, which started streaming on December 5.
Following that release, Netflix is now preparing for its next original film Made in Korea. The film is directed by Ra Karthik and stars Priyanka Mohan in the lead role.
The movie will premiere on Netflix on March 12. It will be available in five languages including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.
Recently, the official trailer of Made in Korea was released online. The trailer quickly gained attention and began circulating widely across social media platforms.
However, the response from audiences and critics has been mixed.
Some viewers believe the trailer looks fresh and different from typical OTT thrillers. They feel the film could emerge as a surprise hit after its release.
Others have shared more critical reactions. According to them, while the storyline appears interesting, the trailer itself feels somewhat flat.
These viewers predict that Made in Korea may end up being an average film despite its intriguing premise.
The discussion has also extended to Netflix’s broader content strategy in regional markets. Some observers feel the platform should invest more in large scale projects.
They argue that several announced projects appear to be medium budget films featuring emerging actors and directors.
According to these critics, stronger projects could help Netflix expand its presence in the South Indian market more effectively.
Despite the divided reactions, curiosity around the film remains high. Audiences are now waiting to see how Made in Korea performs when it begins streaming on March 12.
