Netflix Heals With 2.6M New Subscribers In US

Netflix is slowly healing itself with more and more new subscribers. As the password-sharing crackdown happened, people expected a massive dip when it comes to new subscribers as they expected a harsher reaction.

But the trend in the US is not just different; it’s completely opposite to the entire expectations. Netflix in the USA added 2.6 million new subscribers in the month of July.

In recent times, Netflix is making some considerable changes, and among them, new subscription tiers stand out, such as the ad-supported plan. Around 23% of the new sign-ups actually went for the new plan.

Now, even though there was a password-sharing crackdown, the addition of a cheaper alternative actually did the trick when it comes to adding new users. Even as the second quarter ended, the company successfully added around 6 million new subscribers.

Also, the discontinuation of the basic ad-free plan worked for the subscriber addition. Also, for Q3, Netflix is expecting to generate revenue of $8.3 billion and in terms of profits. As some big releases are waiting for the upcoming months, the numbers can go up.

Netflix’s success in terms of the password-sharing crackdown made other platforms like Disney, which are yet to show any massive results. But Netflix indeed cracked the code, at least for now. Even if people share a love-hate relationship with the platform, they have a loyal base of users.
