Netflix Steps Big Into Gaming

Previously a restaurant and now venturing into gaming, Netflix is determined to be the best in all realms. While their journey into video games is not a recent one, it certainly holds promise.

In the current streaming landscape, competitors like Disney+ and HBO Max are putting up a solid fight. Although Netflix remains globally dominant on paper, it recognizes the need to explore new markets and establish a significant presence.

To target a younger audience, Netflix has embarked on a new chapter in their journey by entering the gaming industry. In late 2021, they began delving deeper into the gaming world and acquired dedicated gaming studios.

Last Wednesday, Netflix released their latest gaming title, “OXENFREE II: Lost Signals,” developed by Night School Studio. The game is available on Netflix’s mobile app, as well as on Steam, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch.

In 2021, Netflix also collaborated with Night School Studio to create a couple of games based on the popular theme of “Stranger Things.” Furthermore, they acquired Night School Studio in the same year.

How successful will this venture be? Only time will tell but it will give them a certain edge.
