Netflix India is all set to premiere another movie based on true events. Titled “Maharaj,” it is one of the most anticipated movies, which will surely create controversies around it.
One of the most exciting aspects of the movie is that it will star Junaid Khan as the lead, marking his debut in the industry. He will be supported by Jaideep Ahlawat, Shalini Pandey, and Sharvari in supporting roles. The movie is directed by Siddharth P. Malhotra, who previously directed Rani Mukerji’s “Hichki.”
“Maharaj” is based on the libel case of 1862 and will follow the life of Karandas Mulji, a renowned social reformer known for his efforts towards the betterment of women’s conditions. He was accused of having sexual relations with female devotees.
It is a partnership project between Yash Raj Productions and Netflix. Further details about the movie are kept under wraps. The movie will premiere on June 14, exclusively on Netflix.
