Star couple Naga Chaitanya and Sobhita Dhulipala got married on December 4th in a close-knit ceremony, with only immediate family and friends, along with a few industry bigwigs, attending.
There were social media reports suggesting that Netflix had come on board as the digital streaming partner for the wedding, claiming the OTT giant had acquired the rights to stream the event.
It was further speculated that Netflix paid ₹50 crore to capture and later stream the wedding on their platform.
However, a press release from the concerned sources denied these claims, stating that Netflix was not associated with the wedding. The couple had wanted to keep their special day private and personal, the statement clarified.
Now, two months after the wedding, fresh rumors are circulating that Naga Chaitanya and Sobhita’s wedding will be streamed on Netflix starting February 14.
If true, this would be a bad idea and would contradict their earlier press release and may invite huge trolling and backlash from fans and audiences.
The question arises: If they had clarified earlier that they didn’t want publicity or money from their marriage, why would they go ahead with a streaming deal? The rumors now include Netflix reportedly paying ₹50 crore for the wedding video.
Netflix has reportedly paid ₹35 crore for Naga Chaitanya’s upcoming film Thandel and ₹50 crore for the rights to his wedding video.
It’s shocking that a wedding video is in higher demand than a full-fledged ₹90-crore film. Unbelievable. Looks like Netflix invested based on audiences’ interest.
We will have to wait and see if these latest rumors hold any truth.
