What to Watch on OTT

OTT: Prabhas Floated, NTR Drowned

Tollywood’s last two true blue mass actioners are Salaar and Devara. Both of them have completed theatrical runs and arrived on OTT.

Coming to the post-OTT phase of both the films, Prabhas’s Salaar has gone one way and NTR’s Devara has gone the complete opposite.

Initially, when Salaar arrived in theaters, there were complaints about the pacing of the first half and the background score. However, there was a near complete turnaround after the OTT debut of the film.

Salaar’s OTT release changed everything completely. The action scenes were rewatched to the degree that they trended on social media for many months.

The BGM, in particular caught on exceptionally after the Netflix debut. Ravi Basrur who was viciously attacked after the theatrical release, attained a lot fame after the OTT release as the BGM penetrated extremely well.

In the case of Devara, the film opened to more or less the same theatrical talk as Salaar. But when it comes to OTT prospect, the NTR starrer is sinking.

Whatever elevation blocks that were tipped to have repeat value on OTT were largely outnumbered by the weak scenes. Only Anirudh’s musical work is being recognized and applauded now while the like of Koratala and cinematographer Ratnavelu are under the pump.

While Salaar stood up after the OTT release, Devara came crashing down an this is a very interesting observation.
