Prime Video’s 4K streaming has come under fire in India after subscribers discovered they might not be getting what they paid for. Indian OTT users pay premium prices expecting uninterrupted viewing and genuine 4K quality without buffering or compromise.
Instead, platforms are cluttering the experience with ads, damaging viewer satisfaction. To make matters worse, recent reports suggest customers are charged for 4K content but are being served only 1080p or even lower resolutions.
One user on X (formerly Twitter) revealed that after checking the playback stats on Prime Video through a Sony Android TV, the stream was actually rendering at 1080p. Yet, the subscription was for 4K, raising concerns over transparency and trust.
Other viewers began checking their devices and found similar results. Many have demanded Amazon Prime Video address the issue immediately, warning that failure to resolve it could push them to cancel their subscriptions.
