Amazon Prime Video seems to have angered the Indian public, owing to the new and sudden changes in its plan specifications regarding device limit that came into effect on January 20th, 2025.
While the earlier plans had a limit of 10 devices, the newly introduced plans slashed the device limit in half, giving only 5 devices the ability to sign in simultaneously.
On top of that, the new plans bring forward a new restriction as well. Users can now remove or replace up to 2 devices only once in 30 days, further amping up public rage.
Many social media users have come forward to criticise these new restrictions, strongly voicing their opinions.
One user said, “Dear Prime Video – From when reduction in device registration was introduced? Don’t recall any communication on this!…
…Even when we want to remove unwanted devices, why should we wait until next month to remove unwanted devices? Shouldn’t the customer hold to rights?”
The users are not in the wrong here. Day by day these streaming platforms are introducing new limits on what the user can do with a subscription they pay for with their own money.
It is high time that the public once again gains substantial rights over the content that they pay for, rather than these big companies dictating what can and can’t be done.
