OTT Wave: Can Pushpa 2 Do An RRR?

The benchmark for OTT success in Indian cinema is firmly with RRR, which was arranging sensation back, then not just across the country, but even across the globe. The OTT sensation of the film was so very prevalent that even the western audience watch the film on Netflix and it eventually propelled the Oscar campaign of the film.

If there is any film that can content with RRR with regard to global rage, it would certainly be Pushpa 2. This film is now streaming on Netflix, and though the early start has been rather moderate with not much attention in the first few hours, it is slowly, but surely catching on.

Going by the latest trends on social media, the film appears to have caught the attention of the international meme pages.

These Memes pages have humongous reach, and the climax fight of Pushpa 2 has somehow found its way here. What this has essentially done is that the climax fight in the film has set a new discourse of discussion on social media.

Not just the Indian folk, but even the international folk are commenting on the same and are comparing it to Marvel. Though this might be far cry for the time being, these sort of discussions are only going to help the OTT reach of the film.

Earlier, in the case of RRR, it was the interval fight with animals that instantly grabbed the attention of the international audience.

It is a fact that Pushpa 2 does not have such magnitude of engaging fight in its arsenal, but at the same time, the climax fight in the film has some sort of a musical trance and outrageously loud action part.

This is the kind of out of the ordinary stuff that is essentially going to catch the attention of International audience. And if this works out for Pushpa 2, then this film could also very well go on to set international acclaim.

Adding to that, we have the peculiar mannerisms of Allu Arjun that must be new for the global audience. But at the end of the day, it is still in very early stages of speculation to discuss about the OTT reach of Pushpa 2.
