Sathyam Sundaram: BO Flop, All Hopes On OTT!

Meiyazhagan, dubbed as Sathyam Sundaram in Telugu, featuring Karthi and Arvind Swamy in lead roles, is still playing in theaters but is nearing the end of its theatrical run.

Given its star power and positive critical reception, the film was expected to perform well at the box office. Unfortunately, despite its strengths, it has not achieved significant success and is now headed toward a below-average verdict.

Amid this, details about its potential OTT release date and streaming platform have emerged.

Even before its theatrical release, Sathyam Sundaram’s streaming rights were acquired by Netflix. Like most Tamil releases, it is expected to follow a four-week OTT window, meaning it will start streaming after completing four weeks in theaters.

With its theatrical release on September 27, the film is likely to be available on Netflix from October 25. An official confirmation is awaited.

Directed by C. Prem Kumar, this Kollywood drama hit theaters on September 27. Upon release, it garnered mostly positive reviews from critics, and word-of-mouth among audiences was also favorable.

However, for reasons unknown, it hasn’t performed as expected and is yet to recover its reported budget.

After 23 days in theaters, its gross domestic collection stands at 40 crores. Its overseas performance has also been underwhelming, with just 12 crores grossed so far.

Prem Kumar was unable to replicate the magic of his previous film, 96, with this one.

Many viewers are eagerly awaiting the film’s OTT debut, spurred by its popularity on social media. It remains to be seen whether the OTT audience will show it more respect, love, and appreciation than theatergoers did.
