Spin-off To Blockbuster Gadar On Cards?

Before the release of Gadar 2, many people were skeptical about its success. Some were concerned that the film may not live upto the standards of the 2001 blockbuster, Gadar. But the film became a huge success at the Box office and became one of the biggest Bollywood movies of the year. According to executives in Zee studio, a spin-off to the blockbuster movie is very much possible.

Speaking at an interview, Shariq Patel, Chief Business Officer at Zee Studios said that if they have a story there can be another sequel to the movie. He further said, “would I love to create a Tara Singh spinoff? I’d love it. We have to figure out how to do that”. This has made the fans optimistic about the spin-off.

He stressed that Gadar will not be made into a franchise. The sequel to the original film took more than 20 years to make and they would only do it if they have a genuine story. Filmmakers tend to create franchises about hits and encash on the profits till the franchise has nothing left to offer. As a result the franchise dies and more sadly the original brand that the hit created initially also dies with it.
