For this project, Anderson adapted a 1977 story by Roald Dahl, and the result is nothing short of a masterpiece. This isn’t the first time Dahl has influenced Anderson, as “The Fantastic Mr. Fox” also drew inspiration from Dahl’s work.
The flow of the storyline is prose-like, and the direction is nothing short of poetic. This short film stands as one of Anderson’s best recent productions. It revolves around Henry Sugar, a wealthy man with a penchant for gambling, who stumbles upon a doctor’s report about a remarkable patient in India.
After his training, Henry gained the ability to see through paper and around objects with just a touch. Doctors hoped to utilize his talents to aid the blind but were saddened to find he had passed away, highlighting the missed opportunity to make a positive impact.
