Chandramukhi 2, the sequel to the 2005 blockbuster Chandramukhi, starring Raghava Lawrence and Kangana Ranaut, has turned out to be a disaster at the box office.
The film, which released on September 28, 2023, received negative reviews from critics and audiences alike for its outdated comedy, weak plot, and lackluster performances. The film also faced controversy for its portrayal of mental illness and religious sentiments.
The film, which was produced with an estimated budget of Rs 60-65 crore, grossed only Rs 25 crore in its theatrical run. The makers have now decided to release the film on the leading OTT platform Netflix on October 26, 2023, within less than a month of its theatrical release.
Such an early release will surely enable a large section of the audience that missed watching the movie on the big screens to catch it online. However, it remains to be seen if the film can redeem itself on the digital platform or continue to disappoint the viewers.
