Dhanush’s Tere Ishk Mein on OTT: Biggest Joke?

After a surprising run at the box office, Tere Ishk Mein, starring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon, premiered on Netflix on 23rd January. Over the long weekend, many viewers streamed the film and shared their reactions online.

Social media has been flooded with criticism since its OTT release. Several viewers pointed out what they felt went wrong with the film and where it failed to connect.

Many comments suggested that the plot revolves around the two leads, Shankar and Mukti, constantly drinking and wanting to harm each other due to heartbreak. This repetitive pattern left viewers frustrated.

Fans agreed that the film started on a promising note. The introduction of characters created curiosity around their behaviour, past, and emotional conflict.

Some viewers enjoyed a few engaging and lighter moments in the first half. However, complaints grew stronger once the film moved into the second half.

According to audiences, the narrative loses direction after the interval. Poorly written transitions, weak connections, and lazy storytelling made it feel like the makers lacked a clear vision.

Several fans said the quality dropped sharply in the latter half. Characters were seen behaving abruptly and making random decisions just to serve the plot.

Many viewers went as far as calling the film a joke. They felt there was minimal research behind the story. The only aspects that stood out were Dhanush’s acting in select scenes and the music by A. R. Rahman.

Even then, fans felt the music was underutilised. According to them, no soundtrack could have saved a film with such weak writing.
