After almost four months since its theatrical release, The GOAT Life is now set to premiere on Netflix. Typically, films debut on OTT platforms eight weeks after their theatrical release, but for reasons unknown, this film took over four months to make its OTT debut.
The film, which took 16 years to reach theaters, will now be available on OTT, finally.
The Goat Life will be released on Netflix on July 19 in five languages: Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi. Netflix India announced the update on Instagram, describing the film as a story of courage, hope, and survival.
It remains to be seen if the OTT audience will respond similarly to the theatrical audience. The film was a washout in Telugu but did well in Malayalam.
Despite the competition from new releases at that time, The Goat Life maintained a strong performance in theaters, earning over 140 crores worldwide.
The Goat Life is based on Aadujeevitham, a bestselling Malayalam novel written by Benjamin. The novel, translated into 12 languages, tells the true story of Najeeb, a young man who leaves Kerala in the early 90s to seek fortune abroad.
