This slice-of-life drama is all about emotions, heartwarming moments, and the chaos that comes with it.
Just like the previous season, Yeh Meri Family totally nails the 90s vibe. It brings back all those simple joys like playing ludo, eagerly waiting for cable TV, landline phones, jamming to the radio, and cherishing family time. Ritika’s bond with her parents perfectly showcases the intergenerational dynamics that were so common back then.
The problem with YMF season 2 is that focuses primarily on Ritika’s character, leaving other family members in the background. The show feels more like a character sketch of Ritika rather than a complete portrayal of a middle-class family. However, Juhi Parmar’s performance as the mother of an adolescent is relatable. She convincingly portrays a tough exterior but a soft-hearted mother.
Director Mandar Kurundkar’s previous season had a charm that seems missing in this one, possibly due to the new writing team. The sibling rivalry, bond, and challenges faced by the protagonist during his summer vacations were more captivating compared to Ritika’s experiences this season.
