With the iconic value of Gadar and the recall factor which led to the success of Gadar 2, Sunny Deol wishes to mint on the franchise as much as he can. Let alone the franchise, he is not even willing to stay away from the post-partition or patriotic themes in his upcoming projects.
Produced by Aamir Khan Productions, Lahore 1947 is Sunny Deol’s much anticipated project starring his son Karan Deol and stars like Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi and Ali Fazal alongside him. It dwells on the sensitive theme of partition based on the play Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya, O Jamyai Nai.
The direction is helmed by Rajkumar Santoshi but the film is taking longer than expected. Sunny said that it is all because of the perfectionist approach of Aamir that a lot of assessment and edits are being made but it’ll all be worth the wait.
Currently, Sunny is busy with the promotion of Jaat, set to release on 10 April. The reception of this film will also determine the possibility of his future success on the big screens, as netizens believe that the topic of Lahore and partition is not new for Sunny Deol fans.
