Can Aditya Dhar Revive Ram Gopal Varma’s Dead Career?

Aditya Dhar’s decision to back Ram Gopal Varma’s upcoming film Syndicate has created strong buzz in Bollywood. The collaboration is seen as a bold move, bringing together two distinct filmmaking styles for a large-scale crime drama project.

Syndicate is planned as a big-budget pan-India film with an ensemble cast. Reports suggest that three to four major actors from Mumbai and the South industries will be part of the project, moving away from the traditional single-hero format.

At the 2026 Red Lorry Film Festival, before the screening of his 1990 film Shiva, Ram Gopal Varma spoke about his return to Mumbai. He stated that he is determined to make a strong impact with his upcoming projects.

RGV said that Syndicate will mark a turning point in his career. He described the film as a major effort to redefine his image and promised that it would surprise audiences with its scale and execution.

The filmmaker also confirmed that Sarkar 4 is set to begin production next month. He announced another project titled Police Station Mein Bhoot, which will feature Manoj Bajpayee, Genelia Deshmukh, and Ramya Krishnan.

Despite these announcements, RGV’s recent films have struggled at the box office and received limited critical appreciation. Titles like The Attacks of 26/11, Sarkar 3, and 365 Days have been cited by audiences during discussions online.

With Aditya Dhar’s involvement after the success of Dhurandhar 1 and 2, expectations are rising. Many believe this partnership could provide the scale and reach needed for a strong comeback.
