After Gadar 2 and Jaat, Sunny Deol is planning to shift to a completely different role in a family drama film. The upcoming film’s tentative title is Safar and it is scheduled to premiere sometime in 2025 on OTT.
While further updates are currently awaited on the platform where the film will be released, Safar was offered to Sunny Deol a long time ago after the success of Gadar 2. A source claimed that the film was different compared to other films done by Sunny until now.
The main premise will focus on a middle-aged family man who aims to live and enjoy his life as much as he can and also help others at the same time. The insider stated that the film has a pure and heartfelt storytelling and Sunny immediately decided to do it when he heard the script.
The film is produced by Vishal Rana, who is having a word with all the streaming platforms and a deal is expected to be finalized by June this year.
Simran Bagga and Darshan Jariwala would also play important roles and a trailer is reportedly scheduled to come out at an event in Jaipur on March 22, 2025. The film is helmed by Shashank Udapurkar.
Sunny Deol will be appearing in a completely different role this time. While films deserve their position on the big screen, Safar is expected to bring a huge viewership for its themes that would easily attract family audiences.
Moreover, Safar will be a completely different experience for those who are desperately waiting to see Sunny Deol playing something out of his comfort zone. In case the film becomes a big success on OTT, Sunny might continue doing more films of this genre in the future.
