Bigger Franchise Than SRK, Salman & Hrithik?

Yash Raj Films’ Spy Universe, featuring hits like Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, and Tiger 3, has been hailed as the biggest franchise in Indian cinema.

Salman Khan’s Tiger series and Hrithik Roshan’s War were massive successes, with SRK’s Pathaan achieving All-Time Blockbuster status, even though Tiger 3 flopped.

Another major player is Rohit Shetty’s Cop Universe, which boasts hits like Singham, Singham Returns, Simmba, and Sooryavanshi, all of which were successful at the box office.

However, Maddock Films’ horror-comedy universe is emerging as an unexpected contender. Beginning with Stree in 2018, the franchise expanded with films like Roohi, Bhediya, Munjya, and now Stree 2.

Despite having medium budgets and no major stars, this franchise has delivered big results.

Stree was a huge hit, Roohi flopped, but Munjya became a superhit, and Stree 2 is on track to become a blockbuster, potentially surpassing the 300-crore mark and possibly even reaching 400 crores.

What makes this franchise remarkable is its return on investment. Unlike the Spy and Cop universes, which require massive budgets and big stars, the horror-comedy films achieve success with modest investment and faster production timelines.

With Singham Again, WAR 2, and Pathaan 2 getting released in the next few months, it will be fascinating to see how this ongoing franchise war evolves.
