The police department lists many prohibited fireworks. These include rockets, firecrackers, fountains, and even sparklers.

The warning was posted on X, and triggered mixed reactions. Many commenters want enforcement of littering laws as well.

Far-right accounts demanded the police to patrol neighbourhoods and arrest any offending individuals

However, NRIs questioned why such warnings are not issued for 4th of July celebrations. Many also wondered if celebrating Diwali could impact their visa status.

This is not the first festivity enforcement in Texas. Earlier this year, Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations prompted public outrage.

McKinney, in the Dallas-Forthworth area saw a visarjan ceremony held at a public park. The immersion of the idol into the pond prompted questions on littering laws.

Cities in the Dallas-Forth Worth area have strict guidelines on such festivities. Only natural clay idols are allowed, and visarjan ceremonies are only allowed at permitted sites.

With the current negative outlook towards NRIs in the US, Diwali celebrations may prompt another wave of hatred. As a result, NRIs are warned to stick to city regulations, and avoid fireworks within city limits.
