After Dharmendra’s passing, fans wondered who would dub his portions in Ikkis. That question has now been answered. The makers confirmed that Bobby Deol has dubbed select dialogues for the younger version of his father’s character in the film.
Ikkis is based on the life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, PVC, who was martyred at the age of 21 during the Indo-Pak war on December 16, 1971. In the film, Dharmendra plays Brigadier M. L. Khetarpal (Retd.), Arun’s father.
Since the character appears in flashback sequences, a younger version needed to be voiced. The team chose Bobby Deol as a creative tribute and a way to maintain emotional continuity. They believe the decision adds authenticity and connects generations both on and off screen.
According to the makers, Bobby Deol’s voice enriches the portrayal, making the character’s transition across timelines more natural and intimate. The emotional weight of a son voicing his father has moved fans deeply.
This is not the first time Bobby Deol has portrayed a younger Dharmendra. In 1977, an eight-year-old Bobby appeared as young Dharam in Dharam Veer. That historic connection is now being revisited nearly five decades later.
Viewers at a recent screening described the dubbing choice as heartfelt and symbolic. Many expressed how emotional it felt knowing Dharmendra is no longer with us. The actor passed away at the age of 89 on November 24, 2025.
Sriram Raghavan’s Ikkis, starring Agastya Nanda and Jaideep Ahlawat, will now allow audiences to see Dharmendra one last time. Fans are preparing to celebrate his legacy on the big screen once again.
