Chhaava Hype Dying Down: Below 10-cr Opening?

Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna starrer Chhaava is a film based on Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s life. Due to its historical theme close to Marathi culture, there have been many questions around the accuracy of the film.

The controversy started when Vicky Kaushal playing Sambhaji Maharaj was seen doing the Lezim dance alongside Rashmika who plays his wife. Fans felt that this seems indecent of a Maratha king and historically inaccurate.

The makers decided to remove it to halt controversy, but now the recent song Jaane Tu has also come under criticism. Many said that it is an Urdu song and over-romantic which doesn’t suit a Maratha king figure.

Rumours have it that makers are planning to remove this song as well. In spite of CBFC’s U/A certification with a runtime of 161 minutes and 50 seconds, which means 2 hours, 41 minutes, and 50 seconds. The makers are making changes just to please fans, so what is the point of the film certification?

The trailer has received mixed reviews but if the makers don’t push the marketing and promotions it might succumb to low box office collection. Anything less than 10 crore opening will mean a disaster but the makers must aim for at least 15 crore to make it a superhit.
