Dhurandhar 2 is gearing up for a strong start at the box office. With only eight days left for its release, excitement for the action thriller is clearly visible. Advance bookings for paid previews are gradually filling up in several locations.
Reports circulating online suggest that the film has already crossed Rs. 14 crores in net advance collections. The figure is considered impressive because the paid preview shows are scheduled only after 5 p.m. on the preview day.
Trade analysts have started discussing whether the sequel can enter the list of the highest advance bookings for a film’s opening day. At present, Jawan holds the record with around Rs. 30 crores in net advance sales.
Other major films in the list include Pushpa 2: The Rule, Pathaan, KGF Chapter 2 and Animal. These films created huge anticipation before release and recorded strong advance booking numbers across the country.
If the paid preview shows of Dhurandhar 2 sell out by March 17, the film could challenge the numbers recorded by Jawan. A strong preview performance may also boost collections on the official release day.
Trade observers believe the momentum could continue throughout the first week. A strong opening may help the film maintain high occupancy across multiple screens and cities.
Some industry voices say the situation might have been different if Toxic had not shifted its release to June. According to them, any other film releasing alongside Dhurandhar 2 might have struggled to compete at the box office.
The growing hype around Dhurandhar 2 has also raised concerns for other upcoming films. Akshay Kumar’s Bhooth Bangla is scheduled to release on April 10, which is around three weeks after Ranveer’s film arrives in theatres.
Trade experts suggest the release date of Akshay’s film could change if Dhurandhar 2 continues to dominate the box office. Producers usually avoid clashes with films that have strong momentum.
However, a section of the audience is still cautious about the sequel. Some viewers are waiting to see whether the film will deliver large scale entertainment and surpass the expectations created by the first part.
Regular advance bookings have not opened yet. Once they begin, the numbers will offer a clearer picture of how Dhurandhar 2 might perform during its first week in theatres.
