The performance in Ghajini enjoys a cult following today. However, reports suggest Aamir Khan was not the first choice. Producer Boney Kapoor later spoke about early casting ideas for the Hindi remake of the Tamil film.
Aamir Khan transformed his physique completely to portray Sanjay Singhania in the psychological action thriller. According to Boney Kapoor, the role was initially imagined differently. Due to physique and screen presence, Salman Khan was first suggested for the character.
Over time, the project moved in a new direction and Salman Khan was no longer part of the plan. The makers eventually brought Aamir Khan on board. On several occasions, Aamir has jokingly said Salman might have done an even better job.
Online reactions, however, tell a different story. Many fans feel the film’s iconic impact comes from Aamir Khan’s perfectionism. While Salman was once known for his bodybuilding image, Aamir’s intense performance remains unmatched for his audience.
Some trolls also criticised Boney Kapoor over the remarks. They accused him of focusing on his nepo-kids instead of commenting on established stars. Despite the noise, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan are known to share mutual respect and professional admiration.
