Deewaniyat Talk: Cringe or Crazy Romance?

Milap Milan Zaveri’s Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat has hit theatres, drawing mixed reactions online. The teaser and trailer created some buzz, and now, audience reviews are pouring in with both praise and criticism.

Some viewers have called the film wild yet entertaining, comparing it to Saiyaara and saying that its logic feels “mad” but also “crazy” in a fun way. The music and fast pacing have earned appreciation, keeping audiences engaged throughout.

The director is being credited by a section of fans for reviving the style of cinema popularised by Raj Kanwar’s Jeet, Jaan, and Daag: The Fire. They feel Milap Milan Zaveri has brought back that larger-than-life Bollywood energy.

However, others have labelled the film cringe. One viewer compared it to Thamma, saying Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat fits more into the horror-comedy zone. Some reviews slammed the hero’s character, calling it an obsessive stalker and outdated for today’s times.

The dialogues and songs have also faced backlash for lacking freshness and relying too much on slow-motion shots. Many feel the film’s emotional tone is overdone, with too many dramatic lines that no longer connect with modern audiences.

Trade experts, however, remain cautiously optimistic. Early reports suggest EKDD might open at around Rs. 8 crores, which is fair given its Rs. 30-crore budget. If the collections rise in the next few days, the film could still emerge as a hit.

For now, Thamma doesn’t seem to pose major competition despite getting more screens. It remains to be seen if Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat pulls larger crowds in the coming week, regardless of its divided response.
