Mirzapur & Awarapan 2: Big Warning to Akshay and Ajay?

The box office results have become very unpredictable. Amid this, the situation of every big superstar has also changed at the same time. There is a long list of reasons for that. Amid this, two versatile actors, Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn, are also failing to create big records anymore.

There was a time when Akshay and Ajay’s films used to create excitement. But that doesn’t exist anymore. Small-budget films are doing well, and the rising superstars of Bollywood are now surpassing the expectations that are set when the veterans arrive on the big screen.

As per a viral report on social media, Akshay and Ajay’s names are at the lowest position when it comes to advance sales in India. Their last two films, Dhamaal and Bhooth Bangla, failed to pass the mark of Rs. 5-6 crores in advance.

Both actors are usually expected to take an opening of at least Rs. 30 crores, which is not happening anymore. The current situation is worse where movies without stars like Mirzapur and sequel to a 19 years old film, Awarapan 2, have recorded better numbers in terms of advance day sales. They are easily surpassing big films like Dhamaal 4, Welcome to the Jungle, and more.

As per trade experts and social media users, a lot of things are going wrong. Most of them noted that the promotion process is where Akshay and Ajay should work right now. The trailers of the films hardly create any excitement among the audience, and eventually the buzz dies by the time the movie arrives at the big screen.

Akshay is also slowly repeating the mistake that he made many years ago by overexposing himself with multiple films in a year. Haiwaan is scheduled to release on September 11, 2026, and this is his third movie to be released within a period of only five months.

Audiences hardly get a chance to get involved in one film, and another one comes out suddenly. This is something that Akshay has to change.

Coming to Ajay Devgn, it is his dependence on hit franchises, along with remakes that have not worked. While Drishyam’s situation is completely different, audiences are now tired of watching him do something that people have already seen.

Furthermore, the directors working with Ajay are not providing him with anything new in terms of characters. He is appearing in the same form and style repeatedly, and people now want to see him attempt something unique.

Although a lot of red flags have to be removed, trade experts are confident that Akshay and Ajay’s good phase will return very soon. They addressed the fact that people start talking about their films when they are announced or a trailer is released. Now all eyes are on Haiwaan and Drishyam 3. Let’s wait and see if both of them will mark a big comeback for Akshay and Ajay.
