Karan and Johar Film: Court Orders Permanent Ban

A seemingly low budget film has become the cause of trouble for Bollywood’s icon Karan Johar. The film is called Shaadi Ke Director Karan Aur Johar, it is a light take on Karan’s reputation for high-end family dramas but projects a desi-indie vibe.

The director and writer is Bablu Singh and the star cast is also not well known. Then how come such a trifling film bothers Bollywood biggie Karan Johar?

He filed a case against the film the moment it was announced in 2024 and he complained that it damaged his reputation and exploited his brand value. The Bombay HC had reprimanded its maker and asked them to make changes to the title and references to Karan Johar in the film.

But makers didn’t pay any heed and continued as they wished. Now weeks before its release, Karan probed the makers again in the court and Bombay HC has put a permanent ban on the project.

It has started a row on social media as well and many called out Karan for his fragile ego. While others understood his concerns over his brand value but did not appreciate a complete ban over the film.
