WAR2, Baaghi4, Now Jolly LLB3: What’s Going Wrong?

The year 2025 has seen a notable rise in film sequels, with producers rushing to capitalise on nostalgia. While some sequels have worked, most seem to be falling flat with audiences.

Kesari: Chapter 2 was considered decent, and Dhadak 2 surprisingly outperformed the first part. But others like Housefull 5, War 2, Son of Sardar 2, and Baaghi 4 have failed to meet expectations.

These films promised grand scale and excitement but delivered much less. The audience feels let down, and the trend is beginning to look repetitive.

The latest upcoming sequel is Jolly LLB 3. The first two instalments were fan favourites, known for their humour and courtroom drama. Naturally, expectations for the third part were high.

However, early indicators suggest lukewarm interest. The advance booking for Jolly LLB 3, which stars Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi, and Saurabh Shukla, has just crossed ₹1 crore. The film is set to release on 19th September.

Though there’s still time for numbers to improve, fans are asking by how much? The response to sequels this year has been underwhelming across the board.

Many now feel Bollywood is leaning too much on sequels as an easy way out. With characters and settings already established, creators only need to add a conflict and resolution.

But when this formula is poorly executed, it comes across as lazy. Fans hope Jolly LLB 3 breaks the pattern and delivers the refreshing comedy everyone is waiting for.
