Thamma Kickstarts First Indian Horror-Comedy World

Dinesh Vijan has officially announced his bold cinematic plan: Maddock Horror Comedy Universe (MHCU). He says it will include eight films over five years. The journey began with Stree and now expands into a coherent horror-comedy world.

The upcoming Thamma starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui will carry the first look of ShaktiShalini. The first look video will release theatrically with Thamma on 21 October 2025.

In Dinesh’s roadmap, films include Thamma, ShaktiShalini, Chamunda, Bhediya 2, Stree 3 (dubbed the “mothership”), then Munjya 2, Mahayudh 1, and Mahayudh 2 as a two-part crossover finale. The universe will maintain horror-comedy tone with creative flexibility.

He also hinted Thamma may spin off into its own series, making it a pivot point in the timeline. With its release this Diwali, audiences will witness the next phase of India’s homegrown horror-comedy universe built on thrills, humour and connected storytelling.
