Thamma Was Potential Blockbuster: What Happened?

Thamma trailer and music reactions

The buzz around Maddock Films’ Thamma has dropped sharply after its trailer and music release. For a Maddock project, that’s unusual. The studio, known for hits like Stree and Munjya, usually sets the bar high with its mix of folklore, satire, and emotion.

But this time, the excitement has cooled. The trailer aimed high but felt confused instead of gripping. You don’t see the sharp humour or cultural depth that define Maddock’s horror-comedy world. The tone feels uneven, and the visuals look surprisingly generic.

Even the VFX and overall finish appear below Maddock’s usual standards. The studio, known for its polish and precision, seems to have fallen short. The concept and cast still hold promise, but the execution hasn’t built much confidence.

The music, often a strong pre-release hook for Maddock films, hasn’t made an impact either. No track has gone viral or sparked the kind of buzz that usually pushes anticipation. As a result, Thamma’s pre-release traction has taken a hit.

On social media, fans and trade circles have shifted from excitement to caution. Trollers are already calling out the lack of spark in both visuals and sound. The expectations for a “classic Maddock entertainer” are now toned down.

Still, the film’s Diwali release gives it a fair chance. If the story finds the same mix of folklore and fun that Stree delivered, Thamma could still surprise you. But for now, its hype graph is clearly trending downward. Maddock may need more than its name to bring this one back up.
