Digital18 has issued a formal clarification asserting its exclusive rights over the OMG franchise, following growing reports about a proposed third installment.
In its statement, the company has clearly stated that no third party is permitted to develop, announce, or promote any sequel or derivative work linked to OMG 2 without prior written approval.
The notice further cautions that the use of deceptively similar titles or promotional material could amount to misrepresentation and dilution of proprietary rights.
The clarification appears to come amid media reports suggesting that OMG 3, reportedly titled Oh My Goddess, is currently in development.
According to these reports, the film is expected to star Rani Mukerji in the lead, with Akshay Kumar returning in an extended cameo role similar in scale to his appearance in OMG 2.
A recent report by Bollywood Hungama claimed that the project is slated to go on floors in February 2026.
These developments have fuelled speculation around the ownership and control of the franchise, prompting Digital18 to publicly reassert its contractual position.
By issuing the notice, the company has made it clear that any sequel or branding closely resembling the OMG identity, if undertaken without authorization, would be considered a violation of contractual and proprietary rights under applicable law.
While no official announcement regarding OMG 3 has been made by the producers, Digital18’s statement signals potential legal complications if the project proceeds without resolving rights-related concerns.
For now, the clarification serves as a reminder that franchise ownership remains a sensitive issue, especially in high-profile properties with established brand value.
