Shockingly Low Adv Bookings: Just 5,000 Tickets Sold!

Two new Hindi films are releasing this week. Considering the festive season, expectations are sky-high in terms of attracting the audience. But the advance booking reports are pointing to a completely different situation.

The first is Rajkummar Rao’s Prahaar. A biopic based on Ujjwal Nikam, the film’s teaser and trailer received a positive response for its intensity, performances, and storytelling. Unfortunately, the positive reviews are not helping much in the advance booking figures.

Online reports have revealed that only 5,000 tickets have been booked on BookMyShow. The numbers are lower in the national multiplex chains, PVR Inox and Cinepolis. It is also said to be one of the most disastrous bookings ever.

The next is Nayyi Navelli, featuring Yami Gautam. Despite emerging as a well-known face after the success of Article 370 and a brief appearance on Dhurandhar: The Revenge, audiences are hardly showing any interest in the upcoming horror comedy.

Although the genre has always turned out to be a surprise hit at the box office, Yami’s film has also booked only 5,000 tickets on BookMyShow. A boost can be expected. But only time will tell if that boost will help the final verdict of the film in any manner.

On the other hand, Ajay Devgn’s fans are happy as Drishyam: The Conclusion will continue to have a clean run without any big competition at the box office. Netizens reacted by saying that people are expecting some masala entertainment in the festive season and only Drishyam can provide that.

Addressing the situation of Prahaar and Nayyi Navelli’s advance booking, social media users said that the films have failed to create any hype due to weak promotions. A few even criticized Maddock Films, saying that since they are a big production house, they should have done something to make audiences aware of the fact that Prahaar is releasing in theatres.

A particular section referred to Nayyi Navelli, saying that certain things should not be tried just because they worked in favour of other filmmakers. They even stated that although Yami is a popular actress, she is still not that much famous that people will buy tickets for her solo film, specifically during a period when the wave of Drishyam: The Conclusion is existing everywhere.

As of now, the opening day numbers will decide if Prahaar and Nayyi Navelli are going to have a long run at the box office. Let’s wait and see what happens.
