A few months ago, fans came to know that Aamir Khan was in talks for the Ujjwal Nikam biopic, with Avinash Arun attached as the director. However, that buzz soon faded as Aamir chose to prioritise the Dadasaheb Phalke biopic instead.
According to the latest reports, the Ujjwal Nikam biopic is back on track, with director Avinash Arun now bringing Rajkummar Rao on board to play the titular role.
Sources reveal that the biopic will go on floors in the last quarter of 2025, with a start-to-finish schedule.
The prep work for the film is currently underway, and Rajkummar Rao is expected to undergo intense acting workshops to step into the shoes of the real-life lawyer.
Several names were considered for the role, but Avinash ultimately felt that no one fit the bill quite like Rajkummar Rao.
The film is said to be a tribute to one of India’s most iconic public prosecutors.
It is scheduled to begin filming in October 2025 and wrap up by March 2026. The makers are aiming for a release in the second half of 2026.
It seems like Maddock is looking to diversify it’s line up with films across genres, and the Ujjwal Nikam Biopic is just an addition to the same.
Meanwhile, Rajkummar Rao was last seen in Maalik, where his transformation into a gritty gangster surprised many. While the film has only earned 24.4 crores so far, fans can’t seem to forget his fierce look.
