Rajkummar Rao is back with another comedy entertainer alongside Wamiqa Gabbi in Bhool Chuk Maaf directed by Karan Sharma and produced by Dinesh Vijan (Maddock Films).
Dinesh Vijan is now the golden producer with continuous hits like Munjya, Stree 2, and Chaava.
Set in Varanasi, the film revolves around the marriage of lovebirds Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi. While Rajkummar Rao is seen excited about his marriage, his life turns upside down as he finds himself stuck in a loop that brings him to the same day again and again after waking up.
As he keeps reliving his Haldi ceremony, a tale of comedic sequences awaits him, along with suspense about the unavoidable time loop. The teaser has been receiving a mixed response from the audiences.
Most users call out the actor for playing repetitive roles in yet another romantic comedy. Several users pointed out how the film resembles Groundhog Day and Palm Springs, which had the same concept of the time loop.
Fans are fed up with Bollywood making remakes and want something new instead of repetitive concepts. While Rajkummar Rao had his fair share of success in Stree 2, he fumbled at the box office with Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video.
On the other hand, Wamiqa Gabbi has been an internet sensation as she is buzzing all over social media for her looks and elegance. While she played a small role in Varun Dhawan’s Baby John, people loved her involvement despite the film getting bashed at the box office.
The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on April 10th, it is a good move by Maddock Banner to release the film in theatres rather than releasing it on OTT given the current situation of the OTT takeover in the film industry.
As Rajkummar Rao brings yet another remade comedy to the table, the initial reaction isn’t what the makers would have thought of. With mostly negative reviews for the teaser, it remains to be seen if Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi can do justice to the film.
