Smart or Blunder? Ranbir Chose Ramayana Over Biopic

Ranbir Kapoor Ramayana

Ranbir Kapoor has reached a point in his career where turning down promising projects has become inevitable due to his packed schedule. After delivering massive hits like Animal, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, and the multiverse-inspired Brahmastra, his fanbase and cinematic choices have only grown stronger. His popularity continues to surge as he focuses on big-ticket films that demand intense preparation and time.

Unlike many stars who take on multiple films in a year, Ranbir sticks to one role at a time, maintaining a deep commitment to each character. This disciplined method often leads him to pass on noteworthy opportunities that come his way. A recent example was shared by filmmaker Anurag Basu, who previously directed Ranbir in the acclaimed Barfi. Basu revealed that he had envisioned Ranbir playing the legendary Kishore Kumar in a long-gestating biopic.

However, around the same time, Ranbir was also approached for Ramayana, one of the most ambitious and high-budget projects in Indian cinema history. Given the scale, cultural significance, and production value of Ramayana, Ranbir decided to prioritize that over the biopic. Anurag Basu expressed understanding for the decision and remains hopeful that they may revisit the Kishore Kumar project in the future.

Currently, Ranbir Kapoor is preparing for the release of Ramayana: Part 1 and is also confirmed for Love & War, co-starring his wife Alia Bhatt and actor Vicky Kaushal. Additionally, he is involved in anticipated projects like Dhoom 4, Animal Park (a sequel to Animal), and upcoming parts of both Brahmastra and Ramayana. His lineup shows that while he may turn down some films, he’s carefully choosing projects that build his legacy in modern Indian cinema.
