Trailer Talk: On A Forgettable Path

The trailer of the next biggie from Disney Plus Hotstar stable is out. It is Sadak 2 starring well-known names like Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapoor and the senior star Sanjay Dutt.

One look at the trailer and we know it looks like a Sanjay Dutt show all the way. However, the problem is a poorly cut trailer that makes no sense of the core story. It seems like three different plots are stitched together. They don’t come across as engaging.

Also, the performances, especially from Alia Bhatt, look bland. Mahesh Bhatt returning to direction after more than two decades seems to have not rediscovered his mojo. Even in disastrous outings, he is known to extract wonderful performances, but that doesn’t look like the case here. No wonder then than the trailer is getting a lot of dislikes.

The less said about Aditya Roy Kapoor, the better. He seems to be entirely non-existent here. The only positive in the whole affair is the music, and one wishes there was more of it. The one we hear is lovely and instantly catchy.

Check out the trailer below. Sadak 2 looks like a direct continuation of the lead character thirty years after the original. The Mahesh Bhatt directorial will stream on Disney Plus Hotstar from August 28th. Vishesh Films and Fox Star Studios jointly produce the movie.
