Megastar Is The Highest Taxpayer in 2016-17

Bollywood celebrities have this habit of paying their income tax well in advance and the figures they pay are public. Among the heroes, it is Bollywood megastar Salman Khan who paid the highest advance tax, i.e., Rs. 44.5 crore.

The next highest belongs to Akshay Kumar with Rs. 29.5 crore and the third highest advance taxpayer was Hrithik Roshan who paid Rs. 25.5 crore. Aamir Khan’s advance tax was very low. It was surprising that he paid Rs. 14.8 crore for a year when he had a blockbuster like ‘Dangal‘ which collected big moolah.

Coming to the female celebrities, it was Deepika Padukone on the top paying an advance tax of Rs. 10 crore. Young heroine Alia Bhatt paid the second highest amount with Rs. 4.3 crore and third was Kareena Kapoor who paid Rs. 3.9 crore in advance.

It’s evident that these advance income tax figures reflect the financial gains of a celebrity. Salman is topping the list for obvious reasons. But, why is Aamir lagging behind?
