King vs Monster vs 3 Idiots 2: Who Will Open Biggest?

Fans of all three Khans are waiting for a comeback from their respective favorite superstars. While two of them are already working on their next projects, the third has yet to announce anything specific amid reports claiming that a few of his films are already on floors.

Although the movies are yet to arrive at the big screen, predictions have already started on what could happen on the first day, specifically in terms of worldwide gross collections.

The first on the list is King, which marks the return of Shah Rukh Khan after a gap of three years. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the movie is creating headlines with its action-packed teaser, which was released in 2025. SRK created records with the opening-day numbers of Pathaan and Jawan in 2023, and trade experts are waiting to see what will happen this time.

Since it is releasing on December 24, 2026, which will be a holiday period, it is going to benefit a lot due to less number of working days. As of now, King is expected to collect Rs. 120 crores worldwide on the first day.

Then there is Salman Khan’s SVC63, reportedly titled Monster. The movie is releasing on Eid 2027, which has been a lucky period for Salman, specifically before the pandemic. Although Salman’s last few films have had an opening of less than Rs. 50 crores, this one is estimated to start at Rs. 90-100 crores worldwide.

A sequel to 3 Idiots is reported to happen soon, and Aamir Khan, along with Sharman Joshi and R. Madhavan are expected to reprise their roles. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the first film emerged as a cult classic over the years along with turning into a blockbuster in 2009 when it was released.

Trade experts believe that the franchise value is expected to help the film a lot. If Rajkumar Hirani creates the sequel without losing the essence of the first film, it might take an opening of Rs. 200 crores worldwide.

On the other hand, a lot of red flags are still raising concerns. King is facing a big obstacle in the form of Avengers: Doomsday. After the positive response to Spider-Man: Brand New Day in India, Doomsday is reported to have a bigger opening this time.

Although it is arriving six days before King, trade experts believe that the craze might prevent SRK’s film from creating records at the box office. The Christmas period has not been so good for Bollywood over the last few years and a lot of people are already advising the makers to shift the release date.

Salman’s Monster is expected to face competition from Spirit, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and featuring Prabhas in the lead. However, this matter is not so worrying right now since multiple reports have claimed that Spirit might be postponed because Prabhas is juggling multiple projects and a majority of the film’s shoot is yet to be completed.

While the 3 Idiots sequel does not have an obstacle for now, netizens believe that Aamir’s obsession with doing everything perfectly might postpone the film or get it shelved completely. Fans have already started requesting Aamir to interfere in a director’s work and start believing in the script provided to him.

As of now, nothing else can be predicted until the advance booking opens or a trailer is released. Expectations are sky-high, specifically in a period where Bollywood is battling to deliver multiple hits in a year. Let’s wait and see whether the predictions will turn out to be right or the situation will be something else.
